IndyAMA's Community Partnerships

Written by Mary Catharine Grau

Every year during strategic planning, the board talks extensively about serving our membership and affording them great opportunities to grow in their marketing knowledge and skills as well as grow their networks. There are discussions about relevant marketing topics, businesses to highlight, and areas in which all of us want to grow our knowledge base. And, as long as I’ve been on the board, the discussions have reached further than serving our membership base to reaching the community as a whole.

Serving the Indianapolis community is a two-part effort for IndyAMA. First, we afford marketing professionals career growth and engagement with a professional community that may not be available in their workplace, helping to ingrain professionals in Indy and be one more reason that people love this city and feel a part of it. Second, but no less important, is to serve our community as a whole, sharing our resources with those that need it most, and bringing the organization together with a common goal.

Two years ago, IndyAMA welcomed our first VP of Community Relations, Megan Miller, to lead our organization is serving thecommunity. With her leadership, last year we partnered with Julian Center to provide new personal care items for the women staying there. One of our members volunteered to redevelop marketing materials, and IndyAMA had its first board service day serving breakfast to families in residence.

This year, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Tatum’s Bags of Fun. This Indy not-for-profit honors Gabby Krause, an amazing six-year-old who had a vision to provide all children battling cancer with a little fun. To help provide a little fun to those who need a laugh more than most, IndyAMA is hosting a Holiday Toy Drive at our December luncheon. We invite all attendees to bring a new toy, game, or activity to help fill Tatum’s Bags over the holidays.

Thanks for your help!
