AMA Membership includes perks and opportunities to network with other marketing professionals, learn about the industry, and grow in your career. Heather Brogden, VP of Hospitality, shares her story of the connections she has made and experiences she has had as an IndyAMA member.

As a visual communicator by day, I always love a good story backed with a few pictures or video, which is why I am exceptionally excited to share one of my favorite AMA tales.

I joined the AMA about two years ago when I was a marketing manager for a previous company. When I struck out on my own, the AMA’s role in my professional growth only grew. The 2013 November luncheon was particularly special for me. I had just quit my full-time job and the topic was something I was extremely interested in (Velocity – Planning Strategically for Downtown’s Future). After the lunch I approached one of the presenters, Chris Gahl from Visit Indy, traded cards and a couple months later set up a time for coffee.

I enjoyed meeting with Chris and when I left (with a few Visit Indy t-shirts and koozies in my purse) we had plans for me to do a guest video blog post on the topic of my choosing.

In August I found my story. We reconnected and early September the video hit the blog. Creating this video for Visit Indy has opened more doors, built new relationships and helped me project my personal vision into the Indianapolis marketplace – all thanks to an AMA lunch!
